INSURED CARE

Your psychological treatment at Therapeutisch Centrum Leiden is covered by your basic health insurance if there is a (suspected) DSM-5 diagnosis, you have a valid referral letter from your GP, and we have a contract with your health insurer.

We currently have contracts with the following health insurers:

  • Zilveren Kruis
  • Interpolis
  • FBTO
  • Ziezo
  • De Friesland
  • Zorg en Zekerheid
  • DSW
  • Stad Holland

The cost of a consultation is based on the time your practitioner has reserved for you in advance in their schedule. If you have contact with your practitioner several times in one day, for example by email or chat, this may be combined and invoiced as one consultation.

NON-CONTRACTED CARE

For clients whose health insurer does not have a contract with us, the invoice will be sent to them by email and must be submitted to their health insurer by the client. The insurer will then reimburse a percentage of the treatment costs (between 60% and 90%). You pay the invoice directly to Therapeutisch Centrum Leiden.

Please check your policy to confirm the reimbursement percentage.

For more information, you can also contact your health insurer.

UNINSURED CARE

Not all treatments are reimbursed by health insurers.

The National Health Care Institute of the Netherlands determines which diagnoses fall outside the basic package under the Health Insurance Act. This is referred to as uninsured care.

Examples of uninsured diagnoses include:

  • Adjustment disorders
  • Relationship problems
  • Parenting issues
  • Divorce-related problems
  • Uncomplicated grief
  • Work-related problems

You can still receive treatment for these issues, but this treatment is not reimbursed under the basic health insurance.

EXCESS

Everyone aged 18 and over with health insurance in the Netherlands has a mandatory excess. This amount is set annually and in 2026 is €385.

Insured treatment at Therapeutisch Centrum Leiden falls under this excess. If you have chosen a higher voluntary excess, you may need to pay this full amount yourself first.

ADDITIONAL INSURANCE

Clients with additional insurance may also be eligible for reimbursement of psychological consultations or complementary - alternative treatment. This is not offset against your excess.

PAYMENT FROM YOUR OWN FINANCIAL MEANS

This is possible if your practitioner works on a non-contracted basis.

You cannot submit your invoice to your health insurer.

NO-SHOW CHARGES

If you do not attend an appointment without cancelling in time, the reserved time is not reimbursed by the health insurer. These costs may then be charged to you. If you do not attend an appointment without cancelling in time, the reserved time is not reimbursed by the health insurer. These costs may then be charged to you.

If you cancel an appointment less than 24 hours in advance, this is regarded as a no-show. Your practitioner will make arrangements with you at the start of the treatment process regarding any charges that may apply.
