As a 1st-line Psychologist and Psychosocial Therapist, I work with people with mental health issues such as:
- Anxiety disorders - Panic disorder, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, generalised anxiety disorder
- Depression / Mood disorders
- Burn out - work-related mental health problems
- Identity issues - gay-specific counselling
- Life-stage issues / Assertiveness issues
- Relationship-related problems - sexual problems
- Eating problems
- Impulse control disorders
- Somatisation - Emotion regulation
- System and family problems
You and your problem(s) are central, and the positive approach and solution also has an important place in therapeutic treatment.
I work symptom-oriented, but the therapeutic relationship is also very important for successful treatment. If necessary, the body is also involved in psychotherapeutic treatment through body-oriented methods.
Therapies aim to rediscover our 'self', the 'self' in contact and connection with the 'other(s)'. By exploring our thoughts and feelings, how that in turn affects our behaviour, and how this is translated in our body. In doing so, I work with various (partial) methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema therapy, Psychoanalytic psychotherapy and the trauma processing method EMDR.
Eclectic treatment means integrating these methods into a personal recipe for treating the client(s).
We start with an intake meeting in which introductions, problem clarification, and treatment progress are discussed.
Three to four sessions follow, after which an evaluation meeting is held the next time. In this conversation, we evaluate whether the chosen form of treatment has worked positively. In some cases, the treatment plan is adjusted.
Generally, the duration of a total treatment is a maximum of 10 to 15 sessions. This may be shorter or longer, depending on the intensity of the treatment process.
