ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Laura, and I’m an accredited psychologist with the Dutch Institute for Psychologists (NIP), based in Leiden. I’m originally from Estonia, but I grew up in a mix of cultures—living in Finland, Norway, and now the Netherlands. These experiences helped me understand belonging, and exposed me to a variety of different cultures and perspectives from an early age.

I obtained both my bachelor’s (cum laude) and master’s degrees from Leiden University, and I have been trained both in the practical skills of therapy and in the science behind it. This background helps me stay up to date with evidence-based approaches while always keeping your personal experience in mind. During my studies, I was involved in research into loneliness, self-esteem, and bright light therapy for depression.

I have always been curious about why we as humans (and I myself) act in certain ways, and found interpersonal relationships both very fascinating and integral to a satisfying life. This is why I employ a client-centred and relational approach in my practice – connection heals.

As someone who identifies as queer (and a bit of a lifelong “weird kid”), I know just how powerful it is to find your place and your people. That’s why I am to create a collaborative and affirming space where you can be yourself. I’m especially passionate about supporting expats and anyone feeling a bit out of sync with their surroundings – whether you’re looking for help with a specific problem such as depression, anxiety or stress – or are just looking for a safe space to process your emotions – I can help you out.

My practice is LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirmative, and I am also familiar with, and can help you navigate ENM or polyamorous relationships. I offer sessions in both English and Estonian.

Although I do not provide specialized care, my approach is integrative and holistic, drawing from a variety of frameworks, including schema therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

In my daily life, I enjoy reading, creative writing and spending quality time with animals and people close to me. In the spirit of learning, I am also working on my Dutch language alongside.

Warmest wishes,

Laura
